One and a half hours before the official vernissage, Melvin Edwards’s exhibition Some Bright Morning opens exclusively for children and their accompanying adults! Guided by the art educators, the kids explore the art of the US-American and get creative themselves, gathering inspiration from the major topics of his works.
With the help of “incentive cards” packed with interesting information and intriguing questions about the artist’s sculptures and paper works, the participants are guided through the exhibition. After that, the Studiowerkstatt opens for creative activities: Using the felting technique, the group investigates the question of who their own personal heroes are. Inspired by Melvin Edwards’s way of referencing special people from his life in his art, the participants produce felt spheres with several colored layers, each of which representing thoughts and stories about individual heroes. The results attest to the uniqueness and beauty of every single personal story.
