This creative workshop revolves around the fascinating power of form and depth. Inspired by Melvin Edwards’s striking works and topics, the participants explore the world of embossed printing—a special technique of relief printing. The focus lies not on color, but on structures and indentations: Using a manual printing press, individually designed shapes, such as chains or abstract compositions, are embossed into soft paper. The motifs appear through the inversion of the print as negative impressions, which tells us about the interplay between hardness and depth.
