Opening: ULLA WIGGEN OUTSIDE / INSIDE

Friday, Feb 23, 2024, 7 pm – 11.30 pm

On Friday, February 23, 2024 the Fridericianum opens the comprehensive survey exhibition OUTSIDE / INSIDE by Ulla Wiggen. The work of the Swedish artist, born 1942 in Stockholm, comprises four distinct bodies of paintings: renderings of circuit boards and other electronic components, portraits, medical imagery showing bones and inner organs and works that focus on the iris of the eye. These diverse motifs are united by Wiggen’s painterly refinement and attention to detail as well as the interest in visually probing complex systems and the interrelation between the outside and the inside.

The speakers are:
Nina Katarina Karlsson, Counsellor for Cultural Affairs, Embassy of Sweden in Berlin (on behalf of Her Excellency Veronika Wand-Danielsson, Ambassador of Sweden to Germany)
Dr. Sven Schoeller, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, documenta und Museum Fridericianum gGmbH and Mayor of Kassel
Prof. Dr. Andreas Hoffmann, Managing Director of documenta und Museum Fridericianum gGmbH
Moritz Wesseler, Director Fridericianum

On the evening of the opening the admission is free.
