ARTIST TALK WITH MATALI CRASSET

Thursday, Apr 20, 2023, 7 pm – 8 pm

Roberto Cuoghi’s show at the Fridericianum inspired an unusual, yet exciting cooperation. The Italian artist invited the French designer matali crasset to create a significant part of the exhibition architecture. This includes neon-yellow and neon-orange rakes and tractor-like metal machines which reference the harvest theme which plays a not insignificant role in the exhibition. After all, the sculptures in the Imitatio Christi series were produced using agar agar, which is obtained from agriculturally produced algae. In this context, crasset’s objects contrast clearly with Cuoghi’s works, creating a tension that echoes all around the presentation. The lecture by matali crasset will highlight her collaboration with Roberto Cuoghi and contextualize it in terms of a multifaceted practice.

Free of charge. The event will be held in English.
