Take a look back! From February 15 to September 6, 2020, the Fridericianum presented the first exhibition for over three decades of Forrest Bess’s work in Germany. A new seventeen-minute film documents this special retrospective, which contained over seventy works loaned from institutions and private collections tracing Bess’s development, from his more conventional, figurative formulations to the visionary paintings that comprise his main body of work. By way of an accompaniment, the artist’s biography was carefully mapped out via selected correspondence and other documents, details of which are also shown in this digital journey through the exhibition.
